EASY DOES IT
So my kids were playing the other day with their new mini drone. My son was trying to control the remote and the first couple of times the drone would just fall fast to the ground. So my soon to be 6 year old daughter kept saying "easy does it".
She kept repeating it even though he flew the drone with ease and she said it to herself as well when she was playing. I paused for a second from my cooking marathon and looked at them playing and had a huge smile on my face. After that moment, I kept repeating to myself "easy does it" Monita.
How true is that. If we all took the approach of "easy does it", wouldn't life be a lot more enjoyable and less stressed. I love the expression she used and now I find myself repeating it often, daily and sometimes hourly.
My work has been really stressful this week and the weekend was busy. In order to prepare myself for the week ahead, I have to plan out my lunches, kids lunches and dinner. So I know when I am going to be super busy, I prepare a few dishes in advance and just keep it in the fridge. So yesterday was my cooking and meal prep day and when I kept repeating to myself, "easy does it" it made it so much more less stressful. I love cooking but when I have a lot of cooking to do in a short amount of time, my stress level goes up. But like my daughter, when I kept repeating it, it made cooking so much easier and more efficient and I got it all done in a shorter amount of time.
I think taking an "easy does it" attitude should be a daily mantra. It is going to be mine for sure. We can all use a little something to help us through the day, to manage our work, our relations, our lists of to do's, our emotions, stress, lifestyles etc. But if we took a "easy does it" approach, the mental energy and attention we bring to things is a more relaxed, less tensed approach and it makes whatever we are doing go by more smoothly. I feel it gives me a more slow and steady approach to everything.
Not only have I taken the "easy does it" approach to my work and personal life but I found it most beneficial as a parent. I don't rush my kids and the every day stuff has just become easier. When they come home from school and are more tired than usual or cranky, we take the "easy does it" approach and come up with a plan for the stuff they need to do like homework, bath, reading and sometimes it's a struggle but I have to remind them and myself.
It has also become useful for me when I have to meet with certain people but would rather stay at home. I have to remind myself and the emotions that come up to take it easy girl. Its okay and don't say anything that you will regret. It allows me to pause for a second and think.
So I hope that you have found this helpful and take the "easy does it" approach to anything that you are dealing with or anyone. Slow and steady and remember always as my daughter says "easy does it". Wish you love.
Peace,
Monita
