Day 7 of 2021- Small Step

Good Morning friends! What a morning. The country is under a lot of turmoil and its so sad to see what's been happening around the country. Just really really sad.

Well, so today is the 7th day of the new year. We are already a week in. This week is surely going by fast. In my last post, I wrote about not giving up and pushing through your new year resolutions. It starts with just one small step.

Look right now with the country being under such turmoil, the pandemic and just a lot of pain everywhere you turn, don't look away from it. Don't shut your eyes to what is happening and to your feelings. You are entitled to every single feeling within you, but keep your eyes open and keep on.

This is probably some of the most difficult times a lot of us have ever seen and will see in our lifetime. I don't know what tomorrow will look like. But I do know that in the midst of this chaos, I am going to keep living my life and keep my intentions. Keep in mind that you can only do what's in your control and not anything outside of your control.

So while there is chaos keep your eye on your road. Well, how do you do that? Here are some of the things that I do daily:

Keep a planner and everyday I write my goals down to remember what I need to get done. For me, writing it down is a way for me to stick to what I need to do.

Stick to my routine. I wake up almost the same time every single day.

Get some form of exercise in. I love to walk outdoors, but these days walk on the treadmill due to the weather. Move your body every day and do not just sit on the couch.

Get a good night's rest. I aim for at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep.

Doing more self care. What other things do you like doing to take care of yourself? A massage maybe or cooking yourself a good healthy meal.

The idea is to do the same thing every single day to reach your goals. Lay out a plan on how you plan to accomplish your goal and stick to it. There is a saying that it takes 21 days for a habit to stick. Well, I read somewhere recently that it is really a myth. The idea just became popular but people who wanted it to be true and maybe thought it would be easy to do something just for 21 days.

It does not take 21 days, it takes every single day. If you really want to stick to your new year resolutions, it takes discipline and focus. Be strong and stay loyal to yourself. Its not as easy as brushing your teeth, this takes a lot more effort on your part.

So hope this helps to at least get you started if you haven't or to get you to keep going.

"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow."- Albert Einstein

May you be at peace and happy, from my heart to yours.

Peace,

Monita
