Day 149 of 2021- About Memorial day

Happy Rainy Saturday friends! Hope that all is going well. Are you enjoying the long weekend. Its cold and raining where I am but its the weekend so I plan on enjoying it no matter what.

Remember that even though Memorial day is a couple of days away, the weekend does mark the beginning of summer.

I was reading online and came across the History of Memorial day. Below is an excerpt from History.com:

"Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day 2021 will occur on Monday, May 31.

Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season".

So however you choose to spend the weekend, sometime honoring those or talking to your kids and paying respects and gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives. They will always be remembered.

Wishing you peace and happiness from my heart to yours!

Peace

Monita
