Happy Rainy Sunday my friends! Its been raining here and is really cold. Not fun weather at all!! But we are still making the most of it.

Day 149 of 2021- About Memorial day

 Happy Rainy Saturday friends! Hope that all is going well. Are you enjoying the long weekend. Its cold and raining where I am but its the weekend so I plan on enjoying it no matter what. 

Remember that even though Memorial day is a couple of days away, the weekend does mark the beginning of summer. 

I was reading online and came across the History of Memorial day. Below is an excerpt from History.com:

"Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day 2021 will occur on Monday, May 31. 

Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. So however you choose to spend the weekend, sometime honoring those or talking to your kids and paying respects and gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives. They will always be remembered.

Day 148 of 2021- Its a long weekend

 So glad its Friday. How are you feeling my friends!! Its been a pretty crazy week and boy the people in my workplace are totally driving me nuts. 

So remember how I said that yesterday was going to be busy. Turns out the program we were supposed to run yesterday got moved to today. Now, there is no way that I am going to stay late and work long hours today. Absolutely not. In fact, I am going to make some excuse for the afternoon to end work on time. It's totally not my fault but it sure is frustrating.

The processes are just not laid out correctly so when you don't have the right process, it makes it hard to keep the timeline. That's what happens right. Hopefully you are not in the same shoes and I hope that you are able to end your day on time today. You know what just log off. The work is going to be there no matter what!!!

So take the time off and relax. You don't want to be in a situation where you keep working. Log off on time my friends and enjoy the break!.

Day 147 of 2021- A busy day

 Happy Thursday! Almost to the long weekend. So how is the week going so far? I have been super busy and today is probably the busiest day of the week. I did front load as much as I could but sometimes, you just can't help it. 

Today is one of the those days where it will be long and stressful and quite honestly my internal buttons may get pushed. Its a good thing that I had a great workout this morning so I am hoping the carry the good, low stress mode through the rest of the day. 

I am aware that I can allow it to affect me or not. I will obviously not let it affect me and will try to be as present as possible.

So what is your day going to look like today? Go outside and get your heart rate up if you can. Hope you made plans for the long weekend. If not, definitely think about it today or tomorrow.

Day 145 of 2021-More on front loading

 Good morning my friends!! How are you feeling? I had a great workout at the gym this morning. I do admire the strength and determination of the people that show up at the gym everyday. Its not easy to be in the 5:00am club but I am proud that I am.

So how is work going? Any thoughts on my post yesterday about front loading the week so you get to de- stress by Thursday and into the long weekend? I was looking at my calendar yesterday and since we are working on a project that is due next month, the next few weeks are going to be stressful. But I was having a conversation with a co worker who I am closely training with and she said that on Thursday we need to run an important program for this project to move forward. So I am like, oh great!

But this does not mean that a lot of the prep can't be done before hand. I definitely don't want to do it on Friday so we are using the next couple of days to really meet the Thursday deadline. As I was thinking about this more, I thought to myself that I really needed to make front loading a weekly practice and not just because its a long weekend or vacation time. 

So I have decided that I want to complete as much as I can right at the start of the week in order to have a more stress free Thursday afternoon and Friday. Is that a practice that you can also incorporate? How can you think about front loading your work week? 

Well, that's something to think about today or when you have a chance. It would certainly require some changes on your part or maybe you are already doing that. What's working for you?

Need to run for a meeting but I hope that's something to think about today.

Day 144 of 2021- Front load

How are you my friends! What's the feeling this morning? I am feeling calmer but a little tired. 

So there is a long weekend coming up and your something to think about today is how can you front load your week so that you get to relax more towards the end of the week into the weekend.

By that I mean, take sometime to look at your schedule and see how you can arrange the beginning of the week to get the things done so come Thursday and especially Friday you feel more relaxed as we get into the long weekend .

I for one plan will plan to get all the work related deadlines done sooner so that I can chill out more towards the end of the week. That means getting more organized with planning with the team on how we can schedule things for the week. For me, and I am sure for most of you, a lot of what I do depends on the others so its hard to completely rearrange things. But I am going to move things that I can and that are within my control to get it done before Wednesday. 

Take a look at your schedule and see if you can front load your week with things that you need to do be it work or personal. Its does put a certain amount of pressure as you think about it but if you focus on the goal of being more relaxed into the weekend it will hopefully be a motivator. 

And if you can't than definitely take more time to find a way to relax and refresh.

Day 140 of 2021-Journal today

 Good Morning Friends! Its so beautiful where I am today. A great day to go outside and get some sun!!! 

So I wrote in my journal this morning and realized that the last time I wrote in it was 2 months ago. Yikes!!! That is a long time. I am a big fan of journaling and dumping all my thoughts and feelings on paper. It really does help me sort through my feelings and enables me to think more clearly. 

So for your something to think about today, write your thoughts and feelings down. I know that some people don't like to journal but it does not need to be in a fancy book. Get a post it note or a piece of paper and just jot down a few sentences about everything that in on your mind.

For those of you who like to journal, when was the last time your wrote in it? It can even be an online journal if that works for you. If you journal regularly, that's totally awesome. Keep it up!!!

For those of you that are hesitating, just give it a try. Write a few sentences down and see how it goes. I am going to make journaling a regular exercise for me going forward and I actually love it. 

Journaling can also be very therapeutic. It helps to write and then go back and read what you wrote. I have not gone back yet to my prior entries to see what I wrote but it can help you see how far you have come and the patterns in your thoughts and feelings. I know that in the past, I have consistently wrote about the one thing that was bothering me and now I realize that wow I really did give it too much thought and energy. It also helped me realize that I also needed to work on freeing that thought. 

So you see journaling is so good for you in many ways. Don't look at it as another chore but something that is fun for you. 

So happy journaling today. Remember even just a few sentences will help you!

Day 139 of 2021-Get some sun

 What's happening my friends! Happy hump day. How are you feeling this afternoon. How is work or home life going? We are nearing the end of May and I am so excited for the summer. 

So remember my last post dreading my interview and really feeling the burnout. Well, I am in for round 2...agh!! I wish they had just eliminated me. The role seems to be very similar to what I am doing now but the office is a lot closer, like super close so at least my commute will be really easy. 

We will see how things go and for now, I am just hanging in there. Don't know what will happen but it is what it is right. 

So for your something to think about tip, go outside and just feel the warmth on your body. If its warm where you are, get outside and just be in the sun. I love the way the sun makes me feel and the warmth just feels good to my bones. 

We don't get to spend too much time outdoors but really make it a habit when its nice to get outside. Take a few deep breathes and just enjoy being outdoors. 

My goal like is to get out and walk as much as I can this summer. Work and this interviewing is so stressful and just being the sun helps to clear my mind. What walking goals do you have or can create? It does not need to be long, even just a few minutes a day will do wonders for your body. 

So get out and get some sun!! Notice how you feel.

Day 138 of 2021-Another Interview

 Hey Friends!! So how are you all feeling today? What's going on? Do you feel happy, sad or just all over the place. 

I am all over the place, more like a volcano ready to erupt. The reason is I have an interview coming up in about 25mins and I am so not feeling it. I have been interviewing a lot since last year and honestly its a huge pain. Finding a job is a huge pain. I am just so exhausted and don't feel like it. 

I know that I will do my very best in the interview and it is just the same thing and questions over and over. Maybe what I am feeling is a complete job search burnout. Can't look or apply for anymore jobs. This one actually came to me through someone I know so I figured no harm is just going through the process.

Truth is I need a break from it all. I need a break from my current work and from the job search. Right now I'd rather be on the beach, alone and just feeling the waves. 

I hope not to get through the first interview so it will make my decision easier but even if I do, I need to not pursue this now. I think the best thing is no action till the end of summer. Enjoy my time with the kids and just chill. I have total faith that something will come up.

Day 137 of 2021-My fun Sunday

 Good Monday morning! Hope you had a great weekend. Boy I have to write about how much fun I had yesterday dancing, playing and laughing with my kids. My daughter let me play subway surfers on her phone and it was great trying to runaway and not get caught. I love that game.

I smiled and laughed so much yesterday and it felt like the TRUE me. My daughter was asking me if I ate too much sugar or sweets since I was so hyper. I realized that the girl dancing, joking and laughing was actually who I really am and I somehow lost her in the past years. 

It reminded me of the time of my younger days where I was so fun to be around with and had some friends. I don't know where I lost her but I want her back and yesterday was a glimpse of me. I realized that I have allowed so much of what's happened in my life to take over my way of being but sometimes you can't help that. 

Having that awareness that the same old fun girl is still there, way inside and she is waiting to show up everyday makes me sad and happy. I have not allowed her to show up. Why? I think I know why and its gonna require a whole lot of inquiry and self work to bring her out everyday. 

I am having a lot of conflicted feelings and in a fog. Can anyone of you relate? How many of you have the inner, fun, wild person inside of you that you buried a long time ago? I forgot about her. But she is in there and probably trying so hard to push her way through. 

Having the awareness is the first step. Now comes the hard work on my self. I know that it would be really helpful to have someone to talk too and I am going to find that support. We all need the support and can't do it on our own. Call a friend, coach, mentor or a therapist but find someone and walk that journey to find yourself. You need to find that lost girl if and work on really bringing her back.

Lots of tough feelings today. Hang in there! I love you and you are worth it!!!

Day 136 of 2021-May mid month review

 Hello Friends! How are you all doing on this lovely Sunday morning! It is finally getting warmer and I am so glad. This is really my season.

So here we are mid May. How is the month going so far for you? Spend sometime reflecting on the last 2 weeks. Did you set some goals or are you thinking ahead as some of the Covid restrictions relax? What does that mean personally for you?  I find that spending sometime thinking about how things are going so far enables me to plan for the rest of the month. 

It is so important to not just think about the doing but also all that you have accomplished. Speak kind words to yourself EVERY single day no matter what. So what if you have not accomplished your New Years goal or any other goal for that matter. There is always tomorrow and you can always restart whenever you need to. 

This journey is yours to live. Its something that I always have to remind myself. There is no right way but only the way that works for you. Spend sometime thinking about how you would like to end the month. Do you need to reach out to someone or have that important communication that you have been putting off? What else is going on this month for you? Any vacation plans for the long memorial weekend?

Spend sometime reflecting, and always loving yourself all the way. Take sometime off and enjoy this time with family and kids. This time will never come back.

Day 134 of 2021- Normal or not

 Hey Friends! How are you all feeling? So glad it is Friday although I have to work on the weekend. I have worked a lot of weekends since starting this new job and it has not been ideal. 

So something to think about today and likely for a long time is how are things looking like for you on a personal front post pandemic. Although things are starting to get better and somewhat going back to some sort of a normal what does that look like for you? 

One of the first questions to start with is do you want things to go back to normal pre pandemic? For some, like myself, its a clear NO, for others it maybe a clear YES or I am not sure. Start by thinking about where you are today.

There is no right answer here and you just have to figure out what's right for you. Maybe some of you have already decided or doing the things that you want to do. The pandemic has forced a lot of things to change including us. 

I know for a fact that I am not the same person and the pandemic is been a true awakening for me. I am still going through a lot of internal conflict in my personal life and trying to figure out a lot of things. There are friendships and relationships that I have let go, however there is still a lot internal clean up that needs to get done. 

That's the process of figuring out that NO I don't want my life to go back to normal. There is no normal anymore. For right now, its working on myself and truly reflecting on what I want as we all get vaccinated and become more social. 

Lots of questions to still come by friends. Its all about something to think about. But for now, this is plenty. Start with where am I today?

Day 133 of 2021-Work plans continuation

 Hello Friends, hope you are feeling good this morning. You've been strong and hanging in there. Work and home life may have been out of balance for sometime now but you still wake up everyday and take the day on. You should be so proud of yourself and to your kids, family and other people in your life who are also doing the same thing and grateful for all the support and experiences. 

So for today's something to think about post, did you get a chance to think about your plans for returning to work? For those that are considered critical, there is no option but to be at work. For those that have been working from home, what does the return to work look like for you?

Start having the conversations now with the people you work with, your family or even yourself. Maybe you are single and have no other commitments but want to continue working from home so you have a more balanced life and are able to pursue other hobbies or attend to other areas of yourself. Be clear if that is what you want and do you best to voice it. 

For those with kids and other family obligations, you may need a lot of time to plan around that but regardless, put your needs on the frontline. Sometimes, there is no workaround (depending on your employer) but hopefully there is some sort of flexibility. 

My kids are hopefully returning to school 5 days a week in the fall and even though my employer wants us to be back in the office and I could technically go to the office, I really don't want to. My commute is way to long and to spend that time in the car is a waste of time to me since I could be doing other things for myself.

What does your return to work look like for you? What would you like to do? Do you love being in the office and having the connections or do you prefer to work from home 100% or maybe a mix? What are your options? Take your time to work through this.

I believe there is always a way and hopefully your employer will be able to work with you on your plans. There is no one way fits all!!

Day 132 of 2021-More on plans for work

 Good Evening my Friends! How are you doing? Half way through the week!! So I have been thinking more about what my plans for returning to work will look like for me. 

As you know, I started a new job about 2 months ago. I have been hustling with this job and its been a really steep learning curve. I have been really feeling lots of ups and downs, actually more downs than up. 

If there is a mandate to be in the office 5 days a week, I will have to quit. The office is located about an hour where I live so the commute will be hellish... there is no way I am doing 5 days a week. 

So I know for sure that going to the office is a no for me. Maybe once, maximum twice a week but no more than that. Being clear on what you really want related to your job will help you communicate your expectations ahead and if those expectations are not met, then you can decide how you want to proceed. 

What are other factors that are in consideration as you think about returning to work? Parents, kids, other family members schedules, self care, or second jobs? Its never a straight answer so make sure that you use this time to be clear with yourself and always put yourself first. 

I hope this helps to really dig deeper on returning to work.

Day 131 of 2021-Plans for work

 Happy Tuesday you all! How are you feeling this morning? I had a really long day yesterday with a lot of manual data entry. No fun at all!

So I was thinking about what my new normal will look like. I am not sure how I feel about the word normal since what is normal to one is not the same for the other. We all have our normal.

I know that I don't want to return to work 5 days a week. I probably can do 1 or 2 days but no more than that. My new job is really far so I am hoping that I would not have to go in more than a couple of days. What would you like to do on the professional front? Are you a critical worker and would have to go in? Or can you decide if you want to work from home? Is that going to be really important to you? 

A lot of companies are rethinking what it would look like when they reopen and bring back the workforce. I hope that there is the flexibility to work from home and that you get what you need.   

Do speak out about what you want and make sure that you have your input in. Really not knowing right now is hard especially since my kids may be going back to school this fall. Planning out their schedule is going to be the top most priority and so is the flexibility to work when and where I want. 

If you are working, what priorities do you have to attend to, even if it is you? A lot of us think about kids and family (myself included) but also think about what you want. 

I hope that this tip of the day gives you something to think about. Don't push it off as it will come sooner than you know. I would rather know and speak now.

Day 130 of 2021-Normal or Not

 Happy Monday Evening! Hope you all had a great weekend and mom's had a relaxing, pampered day. 

So how is the first week of May going so far? Hopefully thing are getting better where you are with people getting vaccinated. I was just thinking that we have a three day weekend coming up at the end of May. Any plans for Memorial weekend?

A lot of people are starting to make plans for the summer. I know its been so hard to find homes at the beach for this summer. All of us have been so cooped up and people are hoping that things will get back to normal.

So what is normal for you? Is normal going back to the way things were before the pandemic or is it a new normal? For me its a new normal. I kind of know what that is personally but I need to dig deeper and figure it out. 

Have you had a chance to think what is like for you. I am sure that next year will look very different than this year so spend sometime this month really digging in to see what the normal looks like for you?

I hope to be able to give you questions to think about as I am too in this process. So to start, the easy thing to answer is does my normal look like what it was before or do I want to create a new normal?

Hope you spend sometime just thinking about that for now. I am going to as well.

Day 128 of 2021- Mothers Day weekend continues

 Hi!! Good Morning. How are you all feeling today? So nice to connect with you. I feel you even if no one is reading or writing back. You are out there and we all are connected so know that I am thinking about you and sending you loads of love and hugs!

For mom's, I hope you have a special weekend with your kids. There is no other connection like a mom and her child. Nothing beats it! The love is so intense and fierce. 

Do something really special for your mom this weekend and show that her that you really love and appreciate her. She already knows it and feels your love no matter what.

I always tell me kids to remember that no matter what, I will always love them. There is nothing they can do or say to ever change that. Being a mom is hard, tiring, stressful and can be painful but the most rewarding. I would never trade the experience with anything else in the world. 

Being a mom is the best role for me and I am so blessed and grateful that I have this opportunity. My children are just perfect teachers!

I still have lots to learn from them. Its so great to see them have all these experiences, the changes they go through and who they are becoming. My role is not to stand in the way (unless I really need to) but to guide them and let them be themselves. I need to watch myself more and grow my own self and they have allowed me to do that. 

I hope you really enjoy this special weekend. I am so proud of all the mom's to mom's to be. I am here thinking about you.

Day 125 of 2021-Oh you again!

 Good Morning you all! How are you feeling? I am really tired today but I made it to the gym this morning and am glad that I did.

So lots going on right? Do you feel like you are constantly moving and your thought are constantly in your mind trying to rule your every feeling and action. It happens and is totally normal. The tip of the day is to just notice how much you get wrapped up in your thoughts. 

Don't judge it but just notice your thoughts. Its like a constant chatter in your mind that never wants to stop even as you try to fall asleep.

When you notice it, just have the awareness of all the words that it is saying. Be with it and accept it for now. Having the awareness of anything is the first big step. 

I notice my thoughts and sometimes say out loud "oh you again". I go about doing my daily duties with work and home and when its gets to much, I step outside and look at the sky and just be with nature. 

That really helps me disconnect my thoughts for a few minutes and brings a sense of relief knowing that it my non stop chatting brain. I smile and let it be and move on. 

So today, notice your thoughts and maybe some up with a name for it. Label it and take a walk outside and look up at the sky. What do you notice?

Day 123 of 2021-Eat fruit

 Good Monday Morning! How are you doing today? Hope you had a fun and relaxing weekend. Today my intention is to eat more fruits and I am going to challenge you to do the same. 

The goal is to eat at least 3-5 servings of fruit, not fruit juice. I am referring to whole fruits or even having a smoothie. My kids always love strawberry smoothie so I buy a bag of frozen strawberries and always make sure that I have it on hand. 

Maybe you could try a new fruit. Its always good to eat what is in season so see what you can find at your local grocery store. I am planning on getting some groceries later so may get a mango or papaya if I can find it. 

I am sure you know that eating fruit and vegetables is really good for you. There is enough already written about the health benefits so I am not going to get into it. The challenge today is to make it a priority if you are not already doing so. 

So today its all about the fruit! All, have a wondering day and remember you matter and I love you! Hang in there and know that no matter what you are going through "this to shall pass".

Day 122 of 2021-Beginning of May

 Good Morning you all! How are you feeling my friends? Its a brand new month so today spend sometime reflecting on how and what your intentions are going to be for the month of May. What are some of the things you intend to do for yourself?

For me, this month is all about controlling my eating, being strong and overcoming my cravings and accepting where I am. 

The acceptance is the hard part and the one I really need to focus on. I once heard that in order to change anything, you have to first accept where you are. It makes sense and leaning in to the discomfort is the hardest part but honestly the most important.

So today spend sometime thinking about your intentions. We tend to just go with whatever is going on and sometimes you have no choice for things out of your control, but for the things within your control, really think about your intentions. How are you going to show up for the month of May?

Reflecting on your intentions is an investment in your own life. So really spend sometime today thinking about it.
