Day 243 of 2021-August month end review

 Its one of my favorite times again, reflecting on month end. Here are some things for you to think about:

  • So how did the month of August go for you? 
  • What are some of the months highlights?
  • What are some of the things that you are grateful for?
  • What went well and what are some of the lessons learned?
  • If you have anything that did not get accomplished, write it down.
  • Any new habits or routines this month?
Taking sometime to reflect on the month really does help to put things in perspective. The goal is to be gentle with yourself and not to dwell in things that did not happen. Remember its all okay. 

You may not want to write it down but reflecting on the month will certainly help. A lot of times we are all so busy just going through the motions, but take sometime to think about all that has happened.

Day 241 of 2021-Preparation day

 Good Sunday Morning! Have you ever planned out how for your upcoming week. When we take sometime to think about what what's coming up for the week, we can be better prepared mentally to face the day.

Spending a good time of time in preparing for the week will help you be more efficient and probably save time in other areas. For example, I like to prepare meals for my family in advance so I don't have to think about it during the week. I also like to look at the calendar in advance to know of upcoming appointments. 

Small things like preparing for the week takes so much stress out during the weekdays. What other ways can you think about to prepare for your week? Jot down all the things that you have coming up and see if you can do a lot of the prep in advance to start of the week. 

We all have a lot going on and things always come up so just trying to sort out the things you know you have on your plate will help ease into the week. You can do this for yourself, work, family or any areas of your life. Sometimes looking at the list can also make you feel overwhelmed so take it one item at a time. Maybe you can't think about all the meal preps for the week so how about just starting with the first couple of days of the week.

The goal is to just do what you can but definitely think about getting a head start for the week.

Day 240 of 2021-Saturday start

 Happy Saturday! What a great start to the weekend. I went for my morning walk and it was so awesome. I loved it. 

How do you start your Saturdays? Do you like to go for walks or run errands first thing in the morning? I usually like to do something for me at the start of everyday before I get to the rest of the things that need to get done. 

So for your something to ponder over, think about how you can start your Saturdays doing something for you. What will that look like?

Day 238 of 2021-Back to School

 Good evening! It's so great to see kids back in school! There are many schools that have started and boy was it an exciting and nervous experience. 

I know I was both excited and nervous for them. Most kids are going back after 18 months so the change can be really hard. With being remote the last school year kids had gotten used to a very different structure compared to now being back in school.

Well most kids are very resilient so they will bounce back quickly. Sometimes its the parents that have a harder time. For those of you with kids, how did you feel when your kids went back? What does your day look like now that the kids are in school? Are you going to be able to focus more on taking care of yourself and other things that you have been putting off? I hope so.

Think about how you can now structure your time and do more things for you. What does your work schedule look like? Take sometime to reflect what back to school means for you now.

Day 237 of 2021-Thinking ahead

 Good Morning! Today I want to challenge you to find the time and write down all the things that you would like to do or places to visit by the end of this year.

Its always fun to plan and sometimes we dream of all the things and places we want to see but never get a chance to write them down. Take sometime to write down all the things you would like checked off by the end of this year. 

Once you have that, think about how you can make your dreams a reality. What would you need to do? If there is a lot on your list, start with selecting the top 2 or 3 and note how you can make it a reality? Do you need to budget for it now? What are all the factors that come to mind?

I love to think and dream about year end vacations and it does take a lot to turn it to a reality. I am not sure where I want to go but given the opportunity, I would love to go to the beach again. If I can make that a reality, it would be the best year end gift I would give to myself.

 Happy Saturday morning! This is the last weekend before my kids school starts next week. They are really excited to go back and I am happy for them.

Day 231 of 2021-Go to bed early tonight

 Happy Thursday Evening! Hope you all are well. 

Are you getting enough sleep? Tonight make it a goal to go to bed early and get 8-9 hours of sleep. I am averaging lower hours of sleep this week so am looking forward to going to bed and staying asleep. 

Make sleep a priority. It truly makes a difference in how you feel and how your day goes. So go to bed at a reasonable time tonight and get that good nights rest.

Day 230 of 2021-Stay or leave

 So glad its Wednesday! How are you doing ? How has your week been so far? Hope that no matter what you are taking sometime to relax and to breathe.

I have a friend who could not take her work anymore and just resigned with no other job offer. I have been in that position before and had a friend tell me that no matter how hard it is, stick it out till you find something else. 

Now, I don't think there is a right answer except to do what you feels right for you. My friend just could not take another day and said she really needed a mental break and will take her time to find another job. I thought well, good for her.

If you are contemplating on staying or leaving a job, just do what feels right. I know most of us just can't afford to quit since we need a stable income so if you need to hang in there till you find something else, then just do your best to hang in there and take it a day at a time. Remember, its hard but the hard times do pass. 

So to leave or stay, just weigh all outcomes and take it a step at a time. The answer will come.

Day 229 of 2021-Take breaks today

 Good Tuesday afternoon! Hope that you are well. How is your day going so far?

I went for my morning walk and boy was it a beautiful morning. Did you get a chance to go out today? Take some deep breathes, like really fill your tummy and breathe out slowly. 

In fact, make it a point to take frequent breaks throughout the day. I don't mean to eat or get water, but breaks to either walk outside or just stare outside. I really does help to break up the day and bring your focus back.

So set an alarm clock or any other reminder and get going every hour. Notice how you feel.

 Good Sunday Morning! Its time for a mid month reflection and review. Here are some questions to think about:

How is the month going so far?

List at least 5 things that you are grateful for?

What are some of the things or goals that are not being accomplished? What's in the way?

Are you taking time for self-care?

Any vacation plans?

What do you need to do for the next 2 weeks?

Reflecting and reviewing the month will definitely help to point out areas where you need to spend more time on or away from. Always remember to be gentle and kind with yourself. Times are hard so the purpose is not to beat yourself up. Ideally writing your thoughts out will be more helpful but if you can't, just take sometime to sit and reflect over the month. Do whatever works for you.

Day 224 of 2021-A reminder

 Happy Thursday! Hang in there, we are almost through the week. Today is just a reminder that you can and will get through these times or any time. Sometimes it feels like a long day with just dealing with difficult people and I have to remind myself that I will get through this.

You will not only get through it, but will become stronger. So if you have had a difficult day, week, month, year or longer than that, just keep thinking I think I can. This has been my mantra all week and will be going forward.

You do matter and are worth it. You are loved.

Day 223 of 2021-Return to office

 Happy Hump Day! Almost the end of the week. Its almost mid August and time is really going by fast. School is starting soon and I know my kids are very excited to return in person.

There has been a lot of calls at work on returning to work and while some companies are requiring people to return to the office, others have decided to delay. I for one am not looking forward to my long commute so plan on only going in twice a week, although the senior team is requiring 3 days a week. 

I often hear them talk about flexibility and yet it seems that when someone suggests a schedule for them that would allow flexibility, there seems to be resistance in the tone from the manager during her response. It almost feels like the leaders want to come across as allowing the flexibility but they would rather you come to the office. Mixed messages in the email and in the tone of their voices during meetings.

I know what I want and am clear about not going in 5 days a week. If you are in a similar situation, stand up for what you want and be firm. There can be a lot of mixed messages from the leaders and sometimes they can also make you feel guilty but to that I say, don't compromise on what you need if you plan to go back to the office. 

Sometimes we tend to want to give up and feel like we have to go with the flow, but don't feel like you need to if you are unable to. Stick to your plan always!

Day 222 of 2021- I think I can

 Happy Tuesday! I was reading this morning and came across "Tillie".  Tillie is the young little female switch engine from the book "The little engine that could" by Watty Piper.  

I don't want to give the story away and would recommend reading it. It is one of my favorites kids book and one of my favorite lines in the book is "I think I can. I think I can. I think I can."

So for your Tuesday morning or every morning starting today, keep repeating the phrase "I think I can." Its a great mantra for everyday living and one that I am going to repeat daily. 

Setting intentions in the morning is so important and this is one of the ways that keep me going through the day by consistently saying I think I can. No matter what comes up, keep repeating it. 

 I believe that you can too!

 Happy Thursday! So glad the week is almost over. How was your day today? Mine was pretty relaxed and am glad that as of right now, there is not much going on for tomorrow so hopefully it would be an easy day as well.

Day 216 of 2021-No T.V for me today.

 Good Wednesday evening! Hope you has a wonderful day. Its been busy for sure.

For your something to think about today, how about spending sometime away from the T.V? Everyone has their own way of unwinding after a long day, so if watching T.V is your go to way, try something else like reading, sitting outside or taking a walk. Notice how it makes you feel.

I have decided that instead of catching up on news and the Olympics, I am going to instead just read for sometime. I do love reading so for me its the perfect way to unwind for the night. 

Try something outside of your usual and see if it makes a difference.

Day 215 of 2021- Taking an evening walk

 What's going on my friends! How is your Tuesday so far? Mine has been pretty okay and honestly so glad that I got done the dreadful work that I needed to do and can now take a bit of a breather. 

The weather is really nice here and hope the same for wherever you are. If it is nice, take an evening stroll around your neighborhood. That's exactly what I am going to do now. I feel really tired but an so tempted to go out for a walk so that is exactly what I am going to do.

Day 214 of 2021-Dreadful work today

 Good Monday Afternoon! How are you all feeling today? I woke up feeling very tired but managed to still get off the bed and go for my walk. It was a great feeling. 

I am sure most of you have had plenty of days where it seems like there is just so much to do at work and for me I have a really ridiculous deadline for work every month where we need to submit an analysis. There is just never enough time and always too much. 

So this morning, I had the dread feeling of not wanting to do it and wish I had a another job. I still have the feeling of wanting a different job but that is besides the point. With the deadline being this Thursday, I found myself really stressing and not wanting to do the work. 

So I decided that as dreadful as I felt this morning, I was going to sit on my desk and not get up till I got through the most difficult part. I got something to eat and sat on my desk and did not get up till I got through the most difficult part of the analysis.

I finally just finished lunch and am now having my Jasmine tea. I can honestly say that I am glad I sat on my desk and kept my word of not moving till it got done. Sometimes, you just have to suck it up and do it anyways and I needed to change my mindset in order to do just that. 

I do feel a lot better now and am glad I kept my own word. So for your something to think about today, are you in a position where you are just dreading to do something on your job but know that you have to? If so, what can you do to change your mindset to just get it done? Can you come up with a way. 

For me, it seems to work to just force myself through it and as much as I do not have fun doing what I need to, I know that I will stick to my word. 

So hope you are able to get over that dread and just get the work done. Then, go out and have fun!
