Day 262 of 2026
Hi Friends,
Today, I want you to know that even though I may not know you personally or know everyone who reads these posts, I am proud of you.
I am proud of you for showing up today, even if getting through the day felt difficult. I am proud of you for continuing to try, care, and ask questions. I am proud of you for looking for something better, whether that means building a healthier habit, developing a more positive mindset, or simply changing the way you speak to yourself.
Sometimes, we wait for someone else to tell us that we are doing a good job. We wait for recognition from a manager, appreciation from a family member, encouragement from a friend, or approval from someone whose opinion matters to us. When that recognition doesn't come, we may assume our efforts don't matter.
However, not every accomplishment will be noticed by someone else. People may not see how much energy it took for you to get out of bed, go to work, care for your family, complete an assignment, or handle a difficult situation. They may not know about the worries you carried quietly throughout the day. They may see only what you accomplished, without understanding what it took.
That is why it is important to recognize your own effort.
Small Victories Still Count
You do not need a major victory to deserve pride. Getting through an ordinary but difficult day counts. Choosing patience when you wanted to snap counts. Sending the message you had been avoiding counts. Beginning a task you were nervous about counts. Staying kind when it would have been easier not to counts too.
We often overlook these small victories because they do not seem exciting enough to celebrate. We may tell ourselves that we should have done more or that someone else handled a much harder situation. However, comparing your progress to someone else’s does not make your effort less meaningful.
Maybe your victory today was completing everything on your list. Maybe it was completing only one thing. Perhaps it was recognizing that you needed rest and allowing yourself to take a break. Progress will not look the same every day, and it does not have to.
A small step is still movement.
Be Proud of the Effort, Not Only the Result
We usually celebrate the result: the promotion, the finished project, the improved grade, the completed goal, or the major life change. However, every result begins with effort that nobody applauds.
It begins with waking up and trying again. It happens through the quiet decisions to stay committed, make one better choice, ask for help, or continue after something does not go as planned.
You may be working toward a goal that has not produced visible results yet. That does not mean your work is being wasted. Growth often happens slowly and privately before anyone else can see it.
Think about something you are working toward right now. Instead of asking only, “Have I reached the goal?” ask yourself:
- Have I learned something during the process?
- Am I handling challenges better than I did before?
- Have I continued even when I felt discouraged?
- Did I make one choice that moved me forward?
- Am I giving myself enough credit for trying?
Your answer does not need to be perfect. The purpose is to notice your progress instead of focusing only on how far you still have to go.
Speak to Yourself With Kindness
The way we speak to ourselves matters. Many of us would never speak to a friend the way we sometimes speak to ourselves. We can be understanding when someone else is tired, overwhelmed, or struggling, but we criticize ourselves for experiencing the same feelings.
If a friend told you that they had a difficult week but continued doing their best, you would probably encourage them. You might remind them that they are strong, that their effort matters, and that they should be proud of themselves.
You deserve that same kindness.
The next time you catch yourself thinking, “I did not do enough,” try replacing it with, “I did what I could today, and I can try again tomorrow.”
That doesn't mean ignoring your responsibilities or pretending everything is perfect. It means holding yourself accountable without tearing yourself down. You can recognize what needs improvement while still respecting how hard you are trying.
Pause and Recognize Yourself
Wherever you are in your journey right now, and whatever you may be carrying, I hope you can pause for a moment and feel proud of yourself.
Not because everything is figured out.
Not because every decision has been perfect.
Not because you have reached every goal.
Be proud because you are still here. You are still learning, growing, and moving forward. Even if progress feels slow, you have not stopped.
Before today ends, take a few minutes to write down three things you are proud of yourself for doing this week. They do not have to be major accomplishments. Your list could include getting through a difficult meeting, making time for someone you care about, completing an uncomfortable task, resting when you needed it, or responding calmly in a frustrating situation.
Let those moments count.
My Reminder to You
Some days will feel productive, while others will feel as though you barely made it through. Both kinds of days are part of the journey. You are not failing simply because you are tired, uncertain, or still trying to figure things out.
Keep showing up. Keep taking the next small step. Keep giving yourself the patience you so freely give to others.
I may not know your full story, but I know moving forward takes courage. I see your effort, and I am proud of you.
Now, I hope you will say the same thing to yourself:
“I am proud of myself for how far I have come, and I will keep going.”
Wishing you peace and happiness from my heart to yours!
Peace,
Monita
