Day 268 of 2026
Hi Friends,
Today it was just my dog and me at the house for most of the day. That almost never happens, and I loved every minute.
I sat down at my desk with big plans to be productive. My dog had different plans, which mostly involved lying on my feet. No meetings. No "quick question." No one stealing my lunch from the office fridge. He just showed up, picked his spot, and stayed. Honestly, best coworker I've ever had.
Then someone walked past the window.
Suddenly he was a trained security professional. Barking, pacing, running to the door like the fate of the neighborhood depended on him. For about thirty seconds, I truly believed we were under attack. The threat was a person walking to their mailbox.
And then? Done. He trotted back, flopped down, and went right back to being a puddle. No grudge, no replaying it in his head, no "I can't believe that guy just walked by like that."
I couldn't help but compare that to how I handle things. One awkward email and I'm still thinking about it at 11 p.m., rewording my reply in the shower.
So here's what I took from my furry office mate:
Good company doesn't have to be loud. Sometimes the best part of a day is simply sharing a room with someone and not needing to talk.
React if you have to, then let it go. Bark at the mailman (metaphorically), take a breath, and move on. Your nap is waiting.
Days like this are rare in my house. Usually it's noise, schedules, and a lot of people coming and going. So when the place goes quiet, I'm learning to enjoy it instead of wondering what I should be filling it with.
Maybe you've got a person, pet, or plant (no judgment) who keeps you company without asking for much. Give them a little appreciation today. And if you work from home, may your coworkers always be this low-maintenance.
Wishing you peace and happiness from my heart to yours!
Peace
Monita
