Giving Myself Permission to Have a Lazy Day

 Day 291 of 2026

Hi Friends

Today is one of those days when I really do not feel like doing anything.

I needed to get groceries, but I decided to put that off until another day. I also told my kids that I would order food for them instead of cooking, which seemed to work out very well for them, so at least someone is excited about my lack of motivation today. Lol.

I am feeling incredibly lazy, and rather than fighting that feeling, criticizing myself, or forcing myself through a list of things that can wait, I am going to allow myself to be lazy and simply lie in the laziness for a while.

Usually, there is a little voice reminding me of everything I could be doing. The groceries still need to be purchased, something around the house could always be cleaned, and there will never be a shortage of tasks waiting for my attention.

However, none of those things are urgent today.

Sometimes, we put so much pressure on ourselves to remain productive that even a quiet day begins to feel like something we need to justify. We tell ourselves that we should at least complete one useful task before resting, as though relaxation must always be earned.

Today, I am not going to do that.

I am going to accept that my energy is low, order food, leave the errands for another day, and enjoy doing as little as possible without turning it into a personal failure.

There is also a difference between avoiding our lives and recognizing when we need a break. If every day became a lazy day, then something might need attention, but one day of intentionally slowing down is not going to ruin anything.

In fact, it may be exactly what I need.

Perhaps tomorrow I will wake up feeling refreshed, motivated, and ready to handle the groceries and everything else that needs to be done. Perhaps I will not, and I will have to ease back into my routine more slowly.

Either way, I do not need to solve tomorrow today.

For now, I am going to settle into this quiet day, enjoy the food I did not have to cook, and appreciate the fact that sometimes the plan can simply be having no plan at all.

If you are feeling the same way today, maybe you need permission to do less too. Let the nonessential tasks wait, make life a little easier where you can, and stop feeling guilty for needing a pause.

Today, I am not trying to overcome the laziness.

I am going to lie in it, laugh about it, and let myself enjoy it.

Wishing you peace and happiness from my heart to yours!

Peace,

Monita
