Day 181 of 2021-Heading home today

 Good Morning, how are you doing? Heading home this morning so been busy packing up. I am feeling sad to leave the beach but this is the moment where I must say goodbye for now to the beach. The goodbye is not forever, just for now. 

The moment has come and I am dreading to go back since the beach has made me feel so refreshed and relaxed. I need to get back to working at home, doing the crazy hours. The feeling of the beach and the pictures will always stay with me and I know that whenever I am feeling overwhelmed the beach will always be in my heart. 

I hope to remember to close my eyes and just imagine being back on the beach whenever I am feeling lonely and sad. Do you have a place you love so much that you can just carry with you in your heart where ever you go? Try imagining it right now and just smile and relax. 

Today is also the last day of June and that means spending sometime reflecting on how the month went. What are some things that you are grateful for? What are some things that went well? How can you spend the time thinking about all the positive things that you have done? I will certainly be doing some reflection on my drive home. So hear we go, packed and ready to go home.

Day 180 of 2021-Beach trip day 3

 Hello Friends! How are you feeling today? It's really hot at the beach but the kids are having so much fun. Spent the day at the beach and the pool and they were so exhausted by night. Both of them have been sleeping in which is nice since I wake up early and get time to write here while hearing the waves. 

I can live here the rest of life and given a chance to, I would spend most winter months at the beach and the rest maybe by the mountains. The beach has made me really reflect on my life and the all the things that I want to achieve. 

My kids have taught me a lot being on the beach. They run towards the water with no care of whether it would be cold. I on the other hand will step away from the cold water but they go in and just have fun. Their focus is to just enjoy and boy do they with no other concern about what other kids or anyone else are doing or are up to. They live in the moment. Today its one way, but really no one second is even the same.

The beach has really taught me that no one second is the same, not wave is the same, it all comes and go the ebb and flow of life. We need to learn and live one second at a time and the second that has past is not going to come back. 

Live in the now is what the beach is whispering to me. So my intention is to live in the moment, to just be.

Day 179 of 2021-At the beach day 2

 Good Monday Morning! How are you feeling today? Start of the week can always feel so hard but you've got it. 

We are at the beach and my desk is facing the ocean. I can live at the beach forever. It is so soothing to hear and see the beach, definitely makes work seem lighter. Something about the vastness of the ocean that reminds me how large life is and not to focus on the small stuff. It all comes and goes like the waves. 

Being at the beach is very therapeutic and helps me to stay calm and reflect on my life. Looking at the vastness of the beach just helps to focus on the great many experiences we all have in life. Its not to get hooked on the experience but to just let it come and go like the waves. 

Remembering the lesson is really hard so keeping pictures of the beach will help me to let things go. How can you look at your life as an ocean and the waves as just waves? No one wave is like the other, like no moment or experience is like the other. How can you just let it come and go, without getting hooked?

Friends, life is short and you only get one shot. Remember that under the waves there is calmness. I intend to be that calmness and life will test me in all situations to be that. Can you be that calmness?

Day 178 of 2021- Beach trip

 Good Sunday morning friends! Hope you all get a chance to sleep in today. I am up early, as usual, but totally excited since we are heading for our annual beach vacation. Looking forward to waking up to the sound and smell of ocean waves and just spending time with the kids. 

I love the beach and would love to live at the beach for some part of my life. It makes me feel really energized and just totally rejuvenated. Although I will be working a few hours each day, I actually don't mind it since I will be in my joyful location. 

The intention is to just relax and go with the flow. The beach has so many lessons and I hope to share them in the next couple of days. Its going to be a long day of driving but I am so excited that it does not even bother me. I just want to get there.

Day 177 of 2021-Unplug the computer

 Good Saturday Afternoon my friends! How are you feeling? My computer was not rebooting this morning and I found myself saying Oh no, I am late to my writing. I tried a couple of times to reboot but it was just a blank black screen. I was very irritated. 

I then left it alone, went about doing all that I needed to and even took a nap this afternoon. I woke up feeling a lot refreshed and went to my laptop, unplugged the battery, waited and reconnected and everything is working fine now. 

It goes to show that we all need to a little disconnect in life and when you find yourself feeling tensed, walk away, maybe even take a nap and then you will find the answer or will be able to deal with whatever the stressors of the day are. 

So my friends disconnect often if you need to. Hope you are having a lovely Saturday!

Day 176 of 2021-My Picture of the day

 Happy Friday! How are you feeling this morning? I had a great walk this morning since the weather was absolutely gorgeous!! 

How is the weather where you are? Hope its nice and even if its not, take a walk today. Get some fresh air.

After a really rough week, I am glad to be able to come back to a more normal routine. So for your something to ponder over today, what picture can you find or draw that describes how you are feeling this morning? Keep it in front of you.

Day 174 of 2021- Give thanks for the past year

 Hello Friends, How are you feeling this morning? It is a beautiful morning where I am and a bit cooler which feels good. 

Here we are mid week and almost through the end of the week and also a week left to the end of June. For your something to ponder over this morning, just one word and that is gratitude. Write down at least 3-5 things that you are grateful for. It does not need to be something current but something in the past year. 

Its always easy to forget about being grateful and its much harder when times are difficult. I am going through a lot with my job since I have had to work really long hours, but I am still trying to find something to be grateful for. 

So write down what you are grateful for in the past year. How does it feel when you read it or remember it? Try to stay with that moment and just give thanks.

Another long day ahead for me so I am going to start my morning. Thinking about you all!

Day 173 of 2021-A very tired morning

 Good Morning Friends! How are you feeling today? Hope that you woke up well rested and ready to take on the day. 

I did not sleep well last night and woke up really tired this morning. I did go the gym and rather than pushing myself I went super easy on myself. I walked slowly on the treadmill and just did a few other exercise machines and was done.

I usually tend to push myself even if I did not get a good nights rest and for a change today, I said forget it, I'm just gonna have a lazy workout.

For your something to ponder today, really look to how you feel and listen to your body. How many times have you just gone ahead with waking up early regardless of how you felt? Did that serve you well? For me, especially with the gym, I sometimes tend to go even when I don't want to and end up actually feeling so tired and grumpy all day. 

So I knew that sleeping in would have been really beneficial for me today but again, I did not listen to my body. Then I realized that I really did not have to go the gym but since I was actually at the gym, I had to take it super easy. 

So friends, listen and pay attention to how you feel. If you did not get a good nights rest, sleep in a little and let your body relax. Once you are well rested, the gym will always be there waiting for you and your workout will be much better.

Day 172 of 2021-Summer outdoor plans

 Happy Monday Morning and the second day of summer! Summer is my favorite season and I am already feeling the burst of energy. I plan on thoroughly enjoying the warm weather and for me it really makes a difference on how I feel and the things that I want to accomplish.

So I know I wrote about figuring out the plans for summer. Have you thought about how different this summer maybe compared to a year ago. We are all pretty much stuck at home and this year already feels so different as people get vaccinated and plan vacations.

Summers are more relaxed, people are not as stressed and kids especially are more happy since there is no school. I view summer as the time to reset and rethink my own priorities and one of them is what are some new outdoor activities that I would like to do more of and how can I make most of my favorite season.

We all have a favorite seasons or seasons where we feel more energized compared to others. So for your something to ponder over, what would you like to do more off outdoors this summer or even if it not summer wherever you are? What are some things that give you energy outdoors?

For me, its having a cup of chai outside, reading and definitely walking. So this summer is to spend more time just doing all the above and more of it outdoors. What about you? What are some of the things you would like to do?

Day 170 of 2021-Happy Juneteenth

 Happy Juneteenth holiday you all! Hope you have taken the time and day to remember this day. I am really happy that it will be a Federal holiday now. 

For those of you who are not aware, here is where the holiday derived its name:

Day 169 of 2021- Slow down this afternoon

 Happy Friday! You made it through another week!! How are you feeling this morning?

I am super tired and did not get my usual amount of sleep for the last few days. Hope to catch up this weekend on sleep.

How can you slow down today? I know its Friday and maybe there's still a lot on your plate. How can you find the time to just breathe and slow down so you can start to relax for the weekend. Often, I find myself pretty tensed on Friday afternoon and tend to carry that tension into the weekend which does not serve me or my kids. 

So I know that today is going to be pretty hectic and I need to start slowing down my mind. For starters, I went to the gym this morning and will hopefully find time for an afternoon walk. I hope that will help me to just breathe deeply and start to slow down. 

What is one thing that you can this afternoon or evening to help slow your mind so you can get into the weekend more calmer? Maybe you could do something you enjoy?

Find just one activity that will help you slow down this afternoon regardless of all else that you have going on. The work will always there so it can wait.

Day 168 of 2021- Afternoon off

 Happy Thursday my friends! Hope you all are doing fine. Have you recently taken a weekday off or an afternoon off? Boy does it feel good to take an afternoon off to break up the work cycle. 

I took the afternoon off yesterday and went to the National Zoo. This was our first visit in 2 years since the zoo was closed to the public due to the pandemic. It was truly nice to spend time with the kids and the weather was gorgeous. 

I have been working so much and have all the extra hours to take off so it worked out. It helps especially now that the kids are off from school to take an afternoon off. 

Maybe you could plan to take the time to go for lunch or see a friend or the spa. I hope that you use the summer to take some weekday afternoon's off so you can really spend the time relaxing. Its not something that you can do every week but plan for at least once a month to take the weekday off or even just the afternoon. It helps to rejuvenate and reset you mind for sometime. 

So what else is going on my friends? As I mentioned in my last post, you all have been working hard every single day and showing up. Reward yourself with an outing or just a day.

Day 166 of 2021- Plan for summer

 Good Tuesday Morning Friends! How are you feeling today? Its so beautiful outside where I am so I hope to be able to go out for a walk today. Today is also the last day of school and kids are super excited!

With summer officially starting, what plans do you have? Any vacations? With all of us staying at home due to the pandemic, it has certainly be hard but I hope that with people getting vaccinated, you get a chance to be outdoors more and get to go somewhere for vacation.

We have a couple of trips planned so I am looking forward to taking sometime off. With a new job, it is going to be hard to completely take the days off, but I hope that I am able to take a day or 2 to just relax and be with kids.

I love the summer and the warm weather. The heat feels so good to me and I love feeling the sun on my body. This summer my hope is to give the kids a lot of time to just chill and be kids. In the past, I have always tried to schedule camps (both fun and learning) but this time I really want them to just chill. Kids go through a lot these days and there is always a mentality that they need to keep learning or preparing for the next grade during the summer so they don't fall behind.

Honestly, I am done with following the tribe on that. I want my kids to be kids and they will catch up and continue with academic learning when school starts again. Now I want them to read and do more creative work like art and writing. That is learning to but it has to be fun and to fill their cups up with creative activities

That's what summer is all about right, having fun and just chilling. We get the rest of the school year to worry so why not just be chilled. So the plan is to just relax, enjoy and let them be.

Day 165 of 2021- Graduation Day

 Hello Friends! Congratulations to the class of 2021!!! So proud of all of you out there and for working so hard this year. Nothing has been easy but you did it! Hope you are also really proud of yourself.

Today my son graduated elementary school and is now going to middle school. Its been a hard year being virtual but boy did he power through. Both my kids did well in the pandemic environment and I am really proud of them. 

So what is your message to your kids if they are graduating? I was thinking about what to say to my son and it was:

"Today is your last day at elementary school so enjoy your virtual graduation. You have worked so hard and put in the effort. I am so very proud of all your hard work and everything you have accomplished so far. Keep smiling and enjoy your summer, a well deserved break. I love you and will always be here for you".

Hope you have a very special message for your kids. They deserve it and it really goes to show how resilient they are.

Day 163 of 2021- Mid year review on hobbies

 Good Saturday Morning! Hope you are having a good start to the weekend. It is a little cool here and felt great to breathe in the air during my walk. I know we all breathe but have you ever paid attention to your breathe? I have been trying to pay more attention especially during my walk and it has helps to be present in nature. 

So any plans for this weekend? Have you thought more about the mid year review? I have been thinking about all the things that I learned and am really proud of keeping up with my reading and listening to podcasts. What hobbies have you kept up with since the pandemic started and into this year? 

Reading and listening to podcasts has become 2 of my favorites hobbies. I can really get lost in a book and time flies when I am reading. What other things have you tried or new hobbies? Use the mid year review to reflect on it and see if there needs to be any changes.

Mid year reviews are great and I hope that spend sometime reflecting on your journey so far this year.

Day 161 of 2021-Back to mid year review.

 Good Thursday Morning Friends! What's on your plate today? I have tons related to work and will likely have to work this weekend. Argh!!

So I have been thinking more about the mid year review and have come to realize just how much I am grateful for in terms of my growth. I have developed more of an awareness about myself and a deeper understanding of what I want and don't. I believe that the more you pay attention to yourself and your mind you will be able to develop more awareness.

The mid year review has made me realize that with all of the experiences I have had and the pandemic which has certainly elevated a lot of emotions and feelings, has forced me to go within. What has your experience been? 

The pandemic and world events has certainly brought up a lot of emotions for sure and has changed you and all of us as beings. What new awareness do you have about yourself that you did not have before? Have you had a chance to go within and face whatever it is that you are feeling or are you just ignoring it and not ready to?

A lot to think about friends but I hope this mid year review gives you the time to really reflect what is going on within. I am a believer of living a life from the inside out and now see how the last year and past 6 months especially have forced me to. There is no other way. By living inside out, I mean truly following what feels right to my and living my life from my truth and not anyone else's. 

I also noticed how I have less tolerance for fakeness and can smell it from a mile away. By fakeness I mean people who pretend to be someone else and all those that love to gossip and talk about others. It's fine if they want to do it, but I have no place for friends like that in my life. So the mid year review has forced me to look at who stays in my arena and who stays outside.

So much to think about for today and going forward right. Well, I am going to stop for now since I have to dig in deeper myself on this and also get to work.

Day 160 of 2021- 2 words in mind

 Good Evening friends! Ah where has the day gone. I have been so swamped at work and am only getting to write now. I really wanted to write more on the mid year review but today will be on something else and it will be super short.

Two words come to mind as I write this: I'm fine. Not sure why those words come up for me but if you really think about it, I am fine. I am fine hopefully you are too and I am here. So regardless of all the strains and stress of my daily life, all I can think about is I'm fine. 

I am fine generally and not resisting all that is currently. I am fine cause I woke up this morning, went to gym, my kids are okay and I have a job. So yes I am fine. 

Friends, I hope you are fine too and if you don't feel that way, think about all the things you are grateful for at this moment.

Day 159 of 2021-More on mid year review

 Happy Tuesday friends! How are you all doing? There is just one week left for school and my kids are so thrilled. They love the summer and having the time off. I truly believe given the year we have had that kids have such resilience and are much capable then many adults I know. They tend to go with the flow and have done such a great job. I am so proud of my kids!!! Can't wait to celebrate with them next week.

In part of the celebration, I was also thinking about my own victories and all that I have learned and grown over the past 6 months. Its been hard but boy am I proud of just hanging in there. Mid year reviews are a good way to reflect on how things are going and to see if anything needs to change for the last 6 months of the year. 

So yesterday I wrote a few questions to think about and I have started to reflect on my own progress. Its not in detail but its a start. Here are some of the things that I am thinking about:

How is your self care going?- Going good so far. I have been walking and exercising at least 3-4 times a week. I also journal and meditate whenever I can so that helps. I also have been going for regular massages the last couple of months. Overall, I definitely am pleased with my self care routines but would need to re think about how I can exercise better.

What did you accomplish so far?- Waking up everyday and not loosing faith. I do loose hope but I have faith in something bigger than me.

Write a gratitude letter to yourself for showing up everyday.- Will need to work on this week.

Write all the things that you are grateful for.- My kids, books, weather, universe, my job, health, body and all the people in my life.

What lessons did you learn? Gosh so many lessons. Probably the biggest one is to let go. I also learned to recognize my own self worth and to stand up for myself and go for what I want.

What new things did you discover? That I would love to stay at the beach and I really don't like working for others. I would love to be my own boss.

So this is a start of my review so far. It is at a high level and I need to do a deeper dive. The whole purpose of this is to understand how the year went and all the changes I would like to incorporate into the rest of the year.

Friends, don't just let the rest of the year go by without giving some thought to how you would like to grow. I know its hard and we can't always control everything but reflection is such a good exercise to see how thing are going for you.

Day 158 of 2021-Some mid year review questions

 Happy Monday! How are you feeling today?

So got back late evening yesterday and was really tired. Come to find out the upstairs AC unit was not working so ended up sleeping on the couch. I was so looking forward to sleeping on my own bed after being away for so many days but the couch was what it was going to be. I did not get a great sleep but an okay one. Oh well, at least I was home and was so glad to just be back.

Things happen right. Just have to accept it and move on. I did find myself getting irritated over the AC but realized that there was no point. I knew that no one would come out on a Sunday evening to fix it right away and even till now, no one has showed up yet. At least the AC unit downstairs is working!

I have been thinking about a mid year review and what that was going to look like. Going back to my New Year intentions of eating healthy and realized that I did try my best to eat well when I remembered to but given we now 6 months into the year, I could have done a lot better. 

Some questions to think about:

How did your resolutions turn out for you so far? Did you keep it or are you still trying to?

How is your self care going?

What did you accomplish so far?

Write a gratitude letter to yourself for showing up everyday.

Write all the things that you are grateful for.

What lessons did you learn?

What new things did you discover?

As you can see friends, there are so many questions to ask. All important but it is always a good time to really sit down and spend the time reflecting. 

I want you to feel proud of yourself ! It is not been easy at all and you have shown up everyday. That is the first step. Be gentle with yourself. 

You can start with the questions above or come up with your own. Use this week or next and really reflect on the mid year. I am sure there are many thing good and not so good things that have happened.

Day 154 of 2021- I am away

 Good Morning Friends! Happy Thursday. Don't you just love a short week. I honestly do and it makes it go by so fast!!

So I am away for the rest of this week but will not miss my short posts. I am reflecting on the mid year review and will write more on that sometime next week. In the meantime, I will definitely be reflecting on the mid year review.

Day 153 of 2021- Motivational quote

 Good Morning Friends! How is it going so far today? So I was going to write about a mid year review and will still do that in another post. I have been really swamped with work and needed some motivation. I then browsed the internet and came across this:

Day 152 of 2021-Happy June

 Good Monday Morning friends! Happy June!! 6 more months till the end of the year. Wow time is really going fast right? 

So I know coming back from a long weekend is always hard. The first day back from a 3 day weekend can be especially challenging. So many emails to catch up to and all the other things you have going on at home. The good thing is that its a going to be a shorter week.

I was thinking this morning about a mid year review (more on that in the next post) and a month review. In fact now that I think about it, I am going to call it an assessment instead. Starting with the month of June, take inventory of everything that you have going on. If you have kids, school's probably ending soon for most of you in the U.S or anywhere else around the world so what does the month look like? Any vacations planned? Any surprise trips or maybe taking the kids out for a job well done. 

Its been especially hard on the kids with being virtual and we are planning on taking them to the beach so they can get a chance to relax. They have worked so hard given the pandemic and truly deserve a good break. I really want them to chill and just be kids. How about you all with kids? Any thoughts?

The next 3 weeks are going to be especially challenging with work so I intend to keep up with my daily self care routine. How about for you personally? What is the month going to hold in terms of work and home life?

Take an assessment and really think and plan out the month. You won't be able to completely control everything but you can think out loud on how and what you like to do for the month. Assess your routines and see if anything needs to change.

So for now focus on the month and make sure to get out and enjoy the weather whenever you can. It does not matter if it hot or cold but just get out and breathe in the fresh air.
