Good Thursday morning! Some of us are really early risers. I know I am one for sure. I love the mornings to myself, just sitting in peace with my coffee and my thoughts.
I also noticed that sometimes when my mind starts the day which is the moment I wake up, it really does sometimes go down the path of all the negatives things that are happening. I have started to bring more awareness to it and am now working on training my mind to think of all the positive things and to relax.
The mind needs to be trained. What and how you think when you wake up impacts the rest of your day. If you wake up and feel tensed with all the things that you have to do, then you will end up being more tensed and your body will react to that tension.
So the first step is always an awareness. Know what you are thinking. Then ask yourself if what you are feeling is really real in this moment. When I am having my coffee, there is no real tension so I need to bring myself to the present and realize that at this moment, I should not be feeling tensed.
Its when we think ahead of all the days responsibilities at work or home that causes the tension. You need to train yourself to being your attention back to the present moment. Yes, you do need to tackle the day, but at this moment of having your coffee, you are just suppose to enjoy your coffee.
The tasks will get done, work is not going anywhere and you will get to it. Train your mind in the mornings to just be present with yourself and whatever else you are doing. When you need to start working, then tackle those responsibilities. Ask yourself, do I need to think about my work when I am having my morning tea or coffee. The answer for me is always a no.
So enjoy your mornings and fill your mind with just the present moment.
