Happy Sunday! Hope you all are having a relaxing day. I woke up this morning at 5:00am and had a great cup of tea and did my daily routine. It felt good to have a productive morning. I am an early bird and found that no matter what time I go to bed, I am up early.
So part of providing some inspiration to you all to help you move ahead in your resolutions is to share some of the things that I am doing to help me stick to my healthier eating and a big part of it is getting prepped for the week ahead.
So what do I mean by getting prepped for the week ahead. Well, for starters I mentally think about what's coming up for the week. On Friday before logging out of work, I take a look at what coming up the following week in terms of meetings, deadlines, and things that I did not get done this week that are now pushed to next week. This helps me to get a mental picture of what the upcoming week is going to look like so I arrange my calendar accordingly.
So as part of that, I ensure that at some point I sign up for my weekly gym classes. That way I don't have to worry about not getting a spot of missing a day, and if that happens, that's okay too. As part of setting myself up and getting organized, I set up my gym clothes everyday before going to bed so I know I will be ready the night before.
I also do a quick check on what's coming for the kids after their teacher sends out the weekly update so I am not surprised Monday morning. I usually do this on Sunday night since I know my kids will likely not want to hear anything about school after Friday or Saturday.
Getting organized is a way to help me manage my own self along with my kids. These days, every day feels the same so getting prepped is now more critical, plus it takes a lot of the stress out of the workweek equation. This is is something that is in my control so taking the steps helps my manage my stress which I talked about a couple of days ago.
So coming back to my intentions, I found that getting organized the night before with my meal plan helps me to eat healthier. Part of that also involves getting the "right" groceries and not something that is going to hinder my progress. Now, that involves putting the grocery list together the night before I am going to the store. I do this so I prevent creating a list in the morning when I am hungry which will get me off track for sure. I also am trying to shop after a meal and not hitting the store with an empty stomach.
So doing some prep involves some effort but then again its all doable. Small chunks at a time and don't try to do it all at once. You have to allow space to think and plan but it puts you slightly ahead.
I also feel it motivates you in a way that you may not have thought of. For me, getting my gym clothes ready makes me feel motivated to go to the gym. Prepping my grocery list makes me excited to eat healthier.
Prepping should not feel difficult or put additional stress on your day. Like your resolutions, it should be fun and exciting. It should not feel like an extra burden on top of everything else you may have going on.
So best of luck prepping and I sure hope this tip helps you to stick to your resolutions.
Wishing you peace and happiness my friend from my heart to yours!
Peace,
Monita
