Day 142 of 2026- A Quote From A Commencement Speech

 Hi Friends,

It’s that time of year again, commencement season. A season filled with speeches, advice, reflection, and reminders for graduates stepping into what comes next.

Today, I came across a quote from Henry Winkler’s commencement speech at Emerson College that stayed with me:

“I live by two words: tenacity and gratitude. Tenacity will get you where you want to go, and gratitude will make you enjoy the journey, no matter how bumpy.”

That is such a simple but powerful combination. Tenacity is what keeps us moving when things are hard. It is the discipline to keep showing up, the courage to try again, and the belief that progress is still possible even when the path is not clear.

But gratitude matters just as much. Because if we are only focused on getting somewhere, we can miss the meaning in the journey. Gratitude helps us notice the lessons, the support, the growth, and even the small wins along the way.

Maybe the real goal is to become someone who can keep going with strength, while still appreciating where they are. Tenacity moves us forward while gratitude keeps us grounded and both are needed for the journey.

Wishing you peace and joy from my heart to yours!

Peace

Monita
