Hi Friends,
"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude." — Maya Angelou
As we pause this Sunday, Maya Angelou's wisdom offers a powerful framework for the week ahead.
The first part is a call to action: If you don't like something, change it. How often do we tolerate situations that drain us while possessing the power to act? That unfulfilling job, that toxic relationship, that limiting habit, we have more agency than we realize. The discomfort we feel is often our inner compass pointing toward necessary growth.
But Angelou doesn't stop there. She acknowledges that not everything can be changed. We can't control other people, rewrite our past, or dictate a thousand variables that shape our lives.
This is where the second half becomes transformative: If you can't change it, change your attitude. This isn't toxic positivity—it's reclaiming power in the face of the unchangeable. While we may not control every situation, we always control our response.
The challenge is discernment. When faced with difficulty this week, pause and ask: Can I change this circumstance? If yes, take one step today. If not, what perspective shift would bring peace?
Sometimes you'll take action. Sometimes you'll release resistance. Both are forms of empowerment.
You're never powerless. When you can act, act. When you cannot, adapt. That's not resignation, it's resilience.
Wishing you peace and happiness from my heart to yours!
Peace
Monita
